School Uniform » School Logo
ProcessIn 2009 we consulted with our community in preparation for the introduction of the New Zealand Curriculum. We wanted to know what values our community believed were important for our school, what our vision for our student's should be and what values our community hold. We took our time with this process, refining, reflecting and reviewing our list. Over 12 months we have developed the following |

Late in Term One we asked students to design a new school logo which would make a visible and lasting contribution to our school.
We suggested that the budding designers considered the following when they sketched their design
- The letters QPS must be very obvious
- Logo must work in black and white, but will have a colour option
- The design needs to reflect our identity
- Include Quality, Perserverance, Success
- Must work with embroidery (so option of either background colour or outline)
- It could include signficiant geographical features
- It could include elements of our four houses
The logo designs had to be completed and to the office by Thursday, 1st April (last day Term One).
All logos were then displayed in our office with each one having a number for voting purposes. Students were then asked to choose their preferred options and classes visited the office and voted accordingly.
We were amazed at the high standard and quality of the logos submitted and it was evident there was certainly a lot of thought from the students.
Once voting closed, three logos were chosen for final approval by the Board of Trustees. One logo design was chosen and the Board then employed the services of a Graphic Designer to come up with a final design base
d around the chosen logo. This is still a "work in progress" but we are very happy to date with the initial concept.
The top three logos voted by students were submitted by
- Olivia Read - Room 7
- Elise Streat - Room 20
- Molly Mackenzie - Room 30
with the Board choosing Olivia's design on which to base our new school logo.
Congratulations Olivia - you have won a free family dinner at Winnies and a night at the movies!
In addition we wanted to create a visula metaphor for our logo. Elements we have included
