3 Way Conferences:
Our 3 Way Conferences for parents, students and teachers, will be held on Tuesday 23 March and Thursday 25 March. The purpose of our teacher-led and student supported ‘3 Way Conferences’ is to strengthen the partnership between home and school to enhance student achievement Our ‘3 Way Conferences’ are designed to involve students in reporting their progress to their parents. During your conference the following areas will be covered.
• Strengths celebrated • Challenges discussed
• Samples of work discussed
• Goals set and an action plan made for Term Two
A separate notice is being sent home with this newsletter, explaining how to book your conference times on the School Interviews website. Bookings open on Tuesday.
Farewell to Blair Park:
Today we say goodbye to Blair Park, who is moving off to Brunei with his family to further his teaching career. Blair is in his fifth year at Queenstown Primary School and began here as a beginning teacher. We have loved having him on the staff and he will be missed. We wish Blair and his family all the best for the new life ahead.
REMINDERS:
• Student Records: If you have changed cellphone, home or work phone numbers, please let us know. It is vital that we are able to contact you in an emergency.
• Otago Anniversary: We do not take Otago Anniversary Day (22 March) as a holiday, as we come under Southland. School will be open as normal on Monday 22 March.
• School Fair: We still need more helpers for the School Fair on Saturday 27 March. If you can spare some time to help, please let the office know.
Quiz Night
Do you enjoy trivia? Well, pencil FRIDAY 23 APRIL into your diary. Held in our hall, tickets only $15.00 pp. Teams or individuals welcome. We are also running an incentive for the classrooms going to Stewart Island this year. The class that sells the most tickets will win a FREE ride on the Kawarau Jet. So book your table now with the office and make sure you tell them what classroom your child is from.
Earthquake in Chile:
Our thoughts go out to our Chilean students and their families, following the recent earthquake in Chile. We hope all their extended families and friends are safe and well.
Rippa Rugby:
The Rippa Rugby tournament was held on the Rec ground on Monday 8 March. All teams did really well. Thank you to the parents who coached and helped out on the day. We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you also to the parents who came along to watch. Well done to the QPS3-Tiger team. They have made the Rippa Rugby Central Otago Finals. Touch Times are as follows: QPS 1 - 4:15, QPS 2 - 4:45, QPS 3 - 4:45, QPS 4 - 4:45.
Lost:
A rip stick has disappeared from the cloak-bay in the Middle School block. It has a fixed wheel with the name Isaak on the wheel. Please return to the school office or phone 409 8734.
Community Notices:
• QPS Oscar Holiday Programme is open for enrolments. Please book your space now with Rachel at the After School Care or Jane on 442 7192. 9 days from 6 April - 16 April. Limited numbers in a safe, fun programme for 5 - 12 year olds.
• Wakatipu Junior Rugby Registrations: Registrations close on the 20 March - so that we can sort out teams ready for the Open Day on the 27 March. Alternatively you can register in person tomorrow - 13 March at the Rugby clubrooms between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm.
• Queenstown Hockey Club Registration Day. All Grades, at the Queenstown Events Centre (upstairs) on Thursday 18 March from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm, or email for a registration form at queenstownhockeyclub@gmail.com.
• The Swim For Life Challenge is on again, and open to all children in our area who are 12 yrs and under who would like to try to swim 200m non-stop using Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke or a combination of these strokes. Join us on March 20 at 12 noon at the WHS pool. No charge. All swimmers must pre-register by texting name and age to 027 451 116, or emailing Jane at sfl@wakatipuswimschool.co.nz.
• First Aid Course: The Wakatipu Swim School are hosting a basic first aid course run by NZ Red Cross on the 23 and 30 March from 6.30-10.30pm. This course will be held over 2 evenings of 4 hours making it quite manageable, and is a valuable tool to have. If you are interested in attending, please email firstaid@wakatipuswimschool.co.nz with names and contact details.
• Queenstown Rovers Football Club invites all footballers to the Central Otago Junior 5-a-side World Cup. 2 draws - Under 10 and Under 14. $30 entry per team. Sunday 21 March at the Queenstown Events Centre, 10.00 am - 4.00pm. Phone Debbie 0274 423 624.
• Queenstown Junior Basketball, AGM, Monday 15 March, 7.30 pm, Queenstown Events Centre. Parents/caregivers urgently required for the committee to enable Friday night basketball to continue. Enquires to Gill on 442 3279 after 6 pm.
• Wakatipu High School PTA presents: “The Magical Hypnosis Show” 2 hours of side splitting family fun and laughter at the Wakatipu High School Stadium, 17 - 19 March at 7.00 pm. Tickets $20 or family $60 available from Summerfields Frankton Pharmacy, Arrowtown Pharmacy and Wakatipu High School. Refreshments on sale. This is a WHS PTA Fundraiser.
